The district is seeking a motivated individual who meets the following qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification Required:Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) Certificate (Initial, Professional) or equivalentAdditional New York State Teacher Certification Preferred:Students With Disabilities (All Grades) Certificate (Initial, Professional) or equivalentEarly Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) Certificate (Initial, Professional) or equivalentExperience:At least five years of full-time classroom teaching experience preferred.Experience writing mathematics curriculum preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualities: Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, including Next Generation Mathematics StandardsFamiliarity with best practices in mathematics pedagogy Experience using iReady to analyze data and develop interventionsUnderstanding of effective classroom management techniquesInnovative approach to modifying lessons and pedagogy to meet the needs of all learnersStrong communication skills and organizational skillsWillingness to participate in extra-curricular activities The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities[MS1] , which are subject to change: Plan and implement small group instruction for struggling students to build and strengthen foundational math skills, closing gaps to aid students in reaching grade level standards (grades 3-6)Provide enrichment opportunities for students across K-5 grade levels Work with math interventionist to design instruction and guide planning to meet the needs of various studentsProvide coaching and support to K-5 teachers in implementing the Eureka Math curriculum and Grade 6 Teacher Designed Curriculum based on standards with fidelity. Lead and facilitate data meetings focused on analyzing student performance data from iReady and mClass assessments.Use iReady and mClass data to identify student learning needs and guide targeted instructional strategies.Collaborate with teachers to design, write, and adjust math curriculum materials aligned to standards and student needs.Model effective math instructional practices and support professional development efforts.Assist in creating intervention plans and monitoring student progress using assessment data.Foster a collaborative environment to promote continuous improvement in math instruction and student outcomes The East Rockaway School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which is established in the East Rockaway Teacher’s Association Contract for the 2024-25 school year.
