About East Rockaway UFSD The East Rockaway School District is located in Nassau County, NY. The district is home to over 1,100 students from grades Pre-K through 12. The district is seeking a motivated individual who meets the following qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification: Science 7-12 Certificate (Initial, Professional) or equivalent.New York State Certification: School Building Leader or equivalent.Experience: We welcome applications from individuals at all levels of experience. The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualities: Knowledge of New York State Science Learning StandardsContent knowledge of science courseworkAbility to budget and order department suppliesUnderstanding of effective classroom management techniquesWillingness to participate in extra-curricular activitiesExcellent organization and time management skillsLeadership experience preferred The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities, which are subject to change: Teach two to three class periods throughout the school day, which may vary based on the need for lab periodsLead department meetings and research department-wide professional development opportunitiesSupervise and evaluate teachers in the science departmentAttend principal’s extended cabinet meetings and district-wide instructional supervision meetings The East Rockaway School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a department chairperson stipend, which is established in the East Rockaway Teacher’s Association Contract for the 2024-25 school year.
