Director of Fine and Performing Position Title: Director of Fine and Performing Arts (K–12) Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction The Director of Fine and Performing Arts provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for all K–12 Fine and Performing Arts programs across the district. The Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, instruction, programming, scheduling, budgeting, and compliance related to music, visual arts, theater, dance, cultural arts, and media arts. This administrator works collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, students, families, and community partners to ensure a cohesive, high-quality arts education program that supports student achievement and artistic excellence. Responsibilities Include: Budget & Resource Management Develop and manage the district-wide Fine and Performing Arts budget. Research, write, and oversee relevant grant opportunities. Research and purchase instructional materials, equipment, and supplies. Program Coordination: Develop a cohesive K–12 Fine and Performing Arts calendar. Select and coordinate instructional and performance themes. Coordinate academic scheduling for arts programs. Oversee co-curricular activities, including concerts, shows, musicals, dance productions, and visual art exhibitions. Curriculum & Instruction: Lead curriculum development in music, visual art, theater, dance, cultural arts, and media arts. Support instructional best practices and program evaluation. Implement district initiatives related to integrated arts and professional development. Operations & Compliance: Process and secure chaperones and field trip requests. Conduct equipment inventories and coordinate repairs and acquisitions. Reserve facilities and oversee safe storage of records, equipment, costumes, and related materials. Ensure completion of all regulatory reporting related to Fine and Performing Arts programs. Qualifications Required: New York State School District Leader (SDL), School District Administrator (SDA), or School Building Leader (SBL) certification. Master's degree in Arts Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field. Successful experience in Fine and Performing Arts education. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred: Administrative experience at the building or district level. Experience with curriculum development, budgeting, grant writing, and large-scale arts programming. Experience coordinating district-wide performances, exhibitions, and events.
