Position: English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher Location: Middle School / High School (Specific assignment TBD) Deadline: Open until filled Employment Type: Full-time, 10-month position Job Description: The district is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to provide engaging and rigorous instruction aligned with New York State Next Generation ELA Standards. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering literacy, critical thinking, and strong communication skills in all students. Responsibilities include: Develop and implement daily ELA lesson plans aligned to curriculum and standards Use data to drive instruction and provide targeted interventions as needed Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners Collaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, and support staff Assess and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records Communicate regularly with families regarding student achievement and growth Participate in professional development and school community initiatives Required Qualifications: New York State Certification in English Language Arts (Grades 7–12) Strong knowledge of ELA instructional strategies, literacy development, and culturally responsive pedagogy Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching in diverse and/or urban school settings Familiarity with blended learning and integrating technology into instruction Bilingual Spanish/English a plus Salary: As per East Ramapo Teachers Association (ERTA) contract, commensurate with experience and credentials Application Procedure: Candidates must apply online through the OLAS (Online Application System for Educators) at https://olasjobs.org/ and upload the following: Cover letter Resume Proof of NYS certification Unofficial transcripts Two professional references About East Ramapo: The East Ramapo Central School District serves a diverse and vibrant student population.
