We are seeking dedicated, NYS-certified teachers to provide 1:1 academic instruction to students who are temporarily unable to attend school in person due to medical, physical, or emotional reasons. The Homebound Instructor acts as a vital link between the student’s home and their school, ensuring academic continuity and progress toward NYS learning standards. Key Responsibilities Direct Instruction : Deliver individualized instruction to students in their home, a healthcare facility, or via approved remote instruction . Collaboration : Coordinate with the student’s regular classroom teacher(s) to obtain lesson plans, assignments, and testing materials. IEP/504 Compliance : Adapt or modify materials as necessary to meet the requirements of a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan. Documentation : Maintain rigorous records of instructional dates, hours, subjects taught, and student progress for district reporting . Communication : Serve as the primary contact for parents and provide regular updates on academic achievement and the student’s readiness to return to school. Minimum Qualifications Certification: Required valid New York State teaching certificate. Elementary (Grades 1–6): Common Branch or equivalent certification. Secondary (Grades 7–12): Subject-specific certification (e.g., Math, ELA, Science). Special Education: NYS Students with Disabilities certification is highly preferred and may be required for specific assignments. Instructional Hours: In accordance with NYS regulations, instructors must provide at least: Elementary (Grades 1–6): 10 hours of instruction per week. Secondary (Grades 7–12): 15 hours of instruction per week.
