East Ramapo Central School DistrictPosition Title: Director of Multilingual Education – Secondary LevelLocation: East Ramapo Central School District – DistrictwideStart Date: May 19, 2025Application Deadline: Open Until FilledOverview:East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as the Director of Multilingual Education (Secondary Level). This district-level position is instrumental in leading and supporting the instruction and academic success of Multilingual Learners (MLs) in grades 7–12. The successful candidate will bring deep knowledge of language acquisition, culturally responsive practices, and inclusive program development, with a proven track record of success in large, urban school districts and experience serving diverse student populations.Qualifications:Experience:Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience with Multilingual Learners in grades 7–12Minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience (building or district level) working with MLsExperience designing and delivering professional development focused on data-driven instruction and differentiated supports for MLsDemonstrated expertise in the development and implementation of curriculum and language acquisition supports aligned with NYSED Part 154 regulationsExperience overseeing NYSESLAT, World Language Checkpoint A and B, and the ELL identification and placement processExperience working in a large, urban district and with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (required)Secondary (grades 7–12) teaching experience (preferred)Bilingual (Spanish) preferredTESOL and/or Bilingual Education certification preferredEducation/Certification:Valid New York State School District Leader (SDL) Certification (required)Major Responsibilities and Duties:Collaborate with district and building leadership to design and deliver high-quality, job-embedded professional development for secondary-level educators working with MLsAnalyze and use multiple sources of student data to diagnose instructional needs and drive decision-making to support academic and linguistic growthSupport the implementation of co-teaching models, scaffolds, and other inclusive strategies aligned to NYSED Part 154 and the district’s Strategic Academic GoalsConduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to support educator growth and instructional improvementOversee and expand the Seal of Biliteracy program, including recruiting advisors, guiding student projects, and submitting required data to NYSEDAdvise principals on equitable scheduling and placement of MLs in grades K–12 based on current regulations and best practicesParticipate in the interview and selection of qualified teacher candidates, particularly those certified in TESOL and/or Bilingual EducationSalary:Competitive and commensurate with experience.To Apply:Please submit your application through the OLAS system and include a cover letter and resume.East Ramapo Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to building a culturally diverse workforce.
