Job Posting: Computer Science and Library Interventionist (K-6) East Ramapo Central School District Department: Instructional Technology, Office of Curriculum and Instruction Reports To: Building Administrator and Director of Instructional TechnologyPosition Overview:The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a passionate and dynamic Computer Science and Library Interventionist (K-6) to join our team. This role involves developing and delivering engaging digital literacy and computer science instruction to elementary students. The position combines library media services with technology-focused curriculum development, and will be instrumental in fostering students' digital skills, coding knowledge, and interest in computer science.The Computer Science and Library Interventionist is an internal title assigned by the building principal to a teacher holding general education certification or library media specialist certification. This role is funded through an evolving source and will report directly to the Building Administrator and Director of Instructional Technology.Key Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and teach digital literacy and computer science lessons for K-6 students.Utilize the Computer Science Discoveries curriculum to guide instruction (training and professional development will be provided).Provide instructional support and resources related to coding, programming, and other core computer science topics.Develop and curate digital collections relevant to computer science, enhancing student learning.Stay current with trends, innovations, and best practices in the fields of digital literacy and computer science education.Collaborate with classroom teachers, educational staff, and community partners to create an effective and cohesive digital literacy program.Provide general library services such as reference support, reader's advisory, and collection development as needed.Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.Qualifications:Valid NYSED teacher certification in K-6 and a license to teach computer science (assistance will be provided to obtain the required license).Strong knowledge of computer science principles, coding languages, software applications, and digital literacy practices.Demonstrated ability to teach digital literacy and computer science in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.Familiarity with Computer Science Discoveries curriculum is preferred, but not required.Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.Strong organizational skills with a commitment to promoting lifelong learning and professional development.Why Join Us?Be part of an innovative and forward-thinking team committed to enhancing digital literacy and computer science education.Supportive professional development opportunities.A dynamic, collaborative work environment with opportunities to influence the digital future of our students.If you are excited about integrating technology into education and promoting digital literacy and computer science, we encourage you to apply for the position of Computer Science and Library Interventionist (K-6) at East Ramapo Central School District.To Apply: Please submit your application through the East Ramapo Central School District's employment portal on our website (www.ercsd.org) or on Olasjobs.org.East Ramapo Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
