Job Posting: Bilingual Yiddish Special Education TeacherJob Summary:The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a dedicated Bilingual Yiddish Special Education Teacher to join our team. This role is crucial in providing tailored educational support to students with special needs while effectively communicating in both Yiddish and English. The ideal candidate will have expertise in special education, strong bilingual skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:Assess Students: Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' needs, strengths, and areas for improvement. Use this data to inform individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional strategies.Develop IEPs: Collaborate with parents, counselors, and other professionals to create and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) that meet each student's unique needs and goals.Plan Activities: Design and implement engaging and effective educational activities and lesson plans tailored to the diverse needs of students, incorporating both Yiddish and English language skills.Teach and Implement IEPs: Deliver instruction that aligns with students' IEPs, using appropriate teaching methods and accommodations to support each student's learning and development.Track Progress: Monitor and document students' progress toward IEP goals, regularly assessing their academic, social, and behavioral development.Communicate with Stakeholders: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, counselors, administrators, and other teachers to discuss students' progress, address concerns, and coordinate support.Support Inclusion: Work to create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported, addressing any barriers to learning and promoting positive behavior.Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the educational needs of students and contribute to the overall success of the special education program.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.Certification: Valid New York State certification in Special Education, and proficiency in Yiddish is required. Bilingual extension preferred.Experience: Previous experience working as a special education teacher, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with bilingual students and families.Skills: Strong bilingual communication skills in Yiddish and English; proficiency in special education practices and IEP development; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Attributes: Empathetic, patient, and dedicated to supporting students with special needs.
