The East Ramapo Central School District is in search of an experienced professional to preside over district-level suspension hearings with integrity and a commitment to due process. As a Superintendent Suspension Hearing Officer, the ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all parties involved are heard and that decisions are made in accordance with district policies, our Code of Conduct, and state regulations and education law.Key responsibilities include:Conducting suspension hearings in a neutral and impartial mannerReviewing evidence, statements, and documentation related to the case.Providing a fair opportunity for the student and school representatives to present their sidesMaking informed decisions based on the facts presented and relevant policiesCommunicating decisions effectively and respectfully to all parties involvedKeeping clear notes and drafting summary post-hearing letters The ideal candidate will possess:Knowledge of education laws, regulations, and district policiesMinimum of 5 years as a school or school district administratorStrong communication and conflict-resolution skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalismExperience in conducting administrative hearings or related legal proceedings Days and Hours:Anticipated start date: March, 2024 As needed, approximately 2 – 3 hearings per week Compensation:$350 per hearing (one hearing a day)$500 (two hearings in one day)
