Candidates with coaching and collegiate playing experience are encouraged to apply. The coach is responsible for the daily functions of the team. Including, but not limited to organizing practice six days a week including during school vacations, organizing out-of-season learning/training experiences, attending required meetings, monitoring uniform & equipment inventories, enforcing district athletic policies, and all other activities as determined by the Director of Health, Physical Education, & Athletics.Varsity coaches are responsible for overseeing the program (V, JV, Frosh & Mod) and providing guidance/leadership to the junior varsity, freshman, and modified coaches. JV and Freshman coaches will work cooperatively with the Varsity coach for assisting at games/contests, scouting, scheduling, coaches meetings, film, and other assignments needed for the program.Candidates must meet NYS Education Department coaching requirements and be willing to participate in ongoing professional development. There must be an understanding of the following: 1. NYS Coaching License: It is crucial that all coaches hold the appropriate New York State coaching license. The process of obtaining certification involves completing the required courses and workshops, submitting an application through the TEACH system, and acquiring the necessary clearances. Personnel and Board Approval: Coaches collect their course completion forms from all certifications and workshops taken. Coaches must upload documentation into the TEACH system. Before the start of each sports season, coaches must be board approved to work and receive compensation. These steps ensure that all coaches are authorized to work with our student-athletes and that proper documentation is on file. 3. Position Changes and Board Approval: Changes to coaching positions must be approved by the board. Coaches only serve in the position communicated to Human Resources by the PE/HE/Athletic Department and with Board of Education approval.
