The ideal candidate will understand the connection between interscholastic athletics and academics and focus that connection on student success. This candidate will know how to engage the community to create a sense of pride amongst constituent groups. The successful candidate will supervise events that occur after-school, on weekends, and during ERCSD vacations. The ideal candidate understands how to collect and analyze data for planning purposes. The ideal candidate understands the requisite elements of scheduling athletics. This candidate will be successful in a variety of assignments and always drive to establish equitable access to high-quality programming for students. This position reports directly to the Director of Health, Physical Education, & Athletics. Duties & Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction- Physical Education & Health Assist in the development and implementation of the District’s PE Plan. Assist in the development and implementation of the District’s Health & Physical Education Curriculum.Coordinate the delivery of instruction of Adaptive Physical Education.Assist in developing the Health & Physical Education Budget. Assist in organizing and conducting professional development for Physical Education and Health Staff.Conduct observations and evaluations of Physical Education and Health staff.Assist in creating an annual facility conditions report on District movement spaces and support spaces to the Superintendent.Athletics-Supervise competitions and practices.Register student-athletes for athletics participation and provide student interest data. Create and implement strategies to bolster student interest in athletics, especially at critical grades. Coordinate an equitable game and practice schedule for each team.Conduct observations and evaluations of coaches Work with the Coordinator of Health, School Doctor, building nurses, and the Athletic Trainers to conduct sports physicals and clear student-athletes for participation.Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes and provide data as required.Establish academic interventions for underperforming students. Establish student celebrations for academically high-performing students. Assist in the creation and monitoring of the athletic budget. Assist in recruiting, attracting, and supporting high-quality, NYS-certified coaches.Coordinate transportation for away events and intra-district events.Coordinate officials for home meets.Schedule competitions by working with coaches and Section 1 scheduling committees.Coordinate gameday staffing, including security, technicians, and gameday crews. Coordinate competitions with school-building staff and opponent districts.Perform daily confirmations to ensure safe and effective practices and competitions. Manage equipment, supplies, and uniform inventories.Assist in creating and enforcing the East Ramapo Code of Conduct. Assist in creating and monitoring the Emergency Action Plan for each location.Coordinate work with Athletic Coordinators/ Equipment Managers Assist in facility use requests.Manage incidents within the athletics space. Advocate and celebrate post-season recognitions. Work with B&G to maintain facilities.Create work orders as needed for safe facility use. Create a B&G weekly work schedule.Monitor and sign vouchers for coaching stipends and gameday staff. Manage media relations including social media, website experience, and communications with news agencies. Draft NYSPHSAA, Section 1, SWBOCES Athletics, RCPSAL paperwork.Create and monitor FamilyID registrations, reports, and attendance sheets.Assist in all other matters deemed necessary by the Director of Health, Physical Education, & Athletics.
