The East Meadow School District is seeking candidates who possess NYS certification in ESOL for an anticipated position for the 2023/2024 school year. Qualified candidates must have the following experience:Teaching students how to speak, listen, read and write in English and how to comprehend spoken English for those students who speak another language(s) (i.e. Spanish, Mandarin, etc)Administering diagnostic and state mandated assessments of English Language LearnersUtilizing formal and informal assessment data to drive instruction and ensure student mastery of standardsEvaluating, determining goals for, and tracking progress of individual English language learners, and communicating with faculty, students and familiesProviding direct ENL instruction to small groups of students and/or providing inclusion support for ELLs in various grade levelsAdvising teachers on modifying/accommodating curriculum for ENL students and sharing best practices to ensure high quality instructionKnowledge of the gradual release responsibility as well as scaffolding instruction based upon student learning stylesEngaging in meaningful professional learning opportunities Encouraging parental involvement in students' education and ensuring effective communication with students and parentsCandidates can submit their resume, letter of interest and proof of certification through OLAS.*Position is contingent upon passage of the school budget.
