The ENL Teacher will play a critical role in fostering the academic and social-emotional success of English language learners (ELLs). This position requires a dedicated educator who is committed to supporting students in developing their English proficiency while achieving academic excellence. The ENL Teacher will design and implement differentiated instruction tailored to meet the linguistic and academic needs of ELLs, ensuring compliance with New York State standards and regulations. Additionally, the teacher will serve as an advocate for culturally and linguistically diverse students, creating an inclusive and welcoming school environment that celebrates diversity and encourages achievement. POSITION OVERVIEW: The ENL Teacher will provide both direct instruction to ELLs and collaborative support to classroom teachers to enhance English language development and academic success. The ideal candidate is passionate about education, culturally responsive teaching, and fostering a love of learning in students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. DUTIES INCLUDED, BUT LIMITED TO: Designing and delivering effective, research-based instructional programs that align with NYS Learning Standards and ENL proficiency benchmarks. Conducting initial assessments and ongoing progress monitoring using approved tools to determine language proficiency levels and instructional needs. Collaborating with classroom teachers to plan and implement co-teaching and/or integrated ENL instructional strategies. Developing individualized support plans and accommodations for students based on their English proficiency levels and academic goals. Facilitating a culturally responsive learning environment that values students’ backgrounds, promotes equity, and supports diverse learning styles. Maintaining accurate and detailed records of student progress, including required documentation for state reporting and compliance. Engaging with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, support at home, and strategies for family involvement in their child's education. Participating in professional learning communities and engaging in continuous professional development to remain current with best practices in ENL instruction. Supporting students’ social-emotional development through mentoring, cultural integration activities, and access to resources. Collaborating with school and district staff to advocate for the needs of English language learners and to ensure equitable access to all school programs and services. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid NYS ESOL/TESOL/ENL Certification required
