Position Overview: The Elementary School Principal (PreK–6) is an energetic and visionary instructional leader who guides a vibrant and diverse learning community. The ideal candidate demonstrates a deep understanding of standards-based curriculum, exemplary educational practices, and a strong commitment to equity and excellence for all learners. Serving as the instructional and operational leader of the school, the principal fosters a collaborative culture that promotes high expectations, continuous improvement, and a strong sense of community. This leader oversees curriculum design and implementation, supervises and develops staff, and leads schoolwide initiatives that reflect best practices in teaching, learning, and student success. Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: Leading and supporting the implementation of standards-based curriculum and research-based instructional strategies. Utilizing the Danielson Framework for Teaching to guide teacher observation, feedback, and professional growth. Promoting an inclusive, equitable environment that addresses the needs of all learners. Supervising and developing instructional and support staff with a focus on capacity building and continuous improvement. Communicating clearly and effectively with all school stakeholders, including students, staff, families, district leaders, and community members. Managing school operations, including safety procedures, scheduling, staffing, and budgeting. Building strong, collaborative partnerships with families and the wider community to support student success. Modeling professionalism, responsiveness, and a growth mindset in all aspects of school leadership. Qualifications: Valid New York State Certification in School Administration and Supervision (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL) – Required Demonstrated experience as a successful classroom teacher and/or school leader. – Preferred In-depth knowledge of curriculum design, instructional leadership, and assessment practices. Experience using the Danielson Framework for Teaching or comparable evaluation models. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to inspire, support, and hold staff accountable in a collaborative school culture. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the academic and social-emotional development of all students.
