Position Overview:The Elementary School Assistant Principal (PK–6) supports the Principal in providing instructional and operational leadership for a diverse and vibrant school community. This role fosters a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a student-centered leader who demonstrates a strong understanding of standards-based instruction, data-informed practices, and a commitment to equity and excellence for all learners.Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:Championing a positive, inclusive school culture rooted in academic excellence, character development, and social-emotional well-being.Leading the implementation of a rigorous, standards-based curriculum and research-based instructional practices to drive student achievement.Utilizing the Danielson Framework for Teaching to support teacher observations, coaching, and ongoing professional growth.Serving as a visible and collaborative instructional leader—modeling best practices, building staff capacity, and promoting high expectations for all.Analyzing student achievement and school data to guide instructional decisions, targeted interventions, and school improvement planning.Supporting and supervising instructional and support staff with a focus on continuous improvement and professional excellence.Overseeing student support systems, including attendance, discipline, and restorative practices that foster accountability and respect.Assisting in the planning and coordination of daily building operations such as scheduling, coverage, and logistical support.Strengthening school-home partnerships through ongoing communication, collaboration with families, and stakeholder engagement.Coordinating enriching student experiences, including field trips, assemblies, and schoolwide events that enhance learning and community spirit.Demonstrating professionalism, adaptability, and a growth mindset in all areas of school leadership.Qualifications:Valid New York State Certification in School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) – RequiredMinimum of five years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the elementary levelExperience using the Danielson Framework for Teaching or comparable evaluation modelsPreferred:Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.Experience in a leadership role supporting literacy, intervention services, or special education.
