Director of Curriculum & InstructionDistrict Overview:Elmont School District is the largest elementary district in Nassau County, serving nearly 3,400 students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. Strong partnerships with parents, community organizations, and local leaders foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, preparing students to be engaged, responsible citizens and future leaders.Job Summary:The Director of Curriculum and Instruction provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day oversight of the district’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment efforts to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all students, including UPK and preschool programs. Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools, this role leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of instructional programs, professional development, and the use of data to support academic growth and equity. The Director collaborates closely with central office and building administrators and supports ENL, AIS, and instructional technology programs. This role focuses on the continuous development, implementation, and coordination of the PreK–6 curriculum to maximize student achievement and address social, emotional, and behavioral needs in support of our motto, “Cultivating Scholars and Global Citizens.”Pay Scale: Commensurate with experience.Key Responsibilities, But Are Not Limited To: Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of PreK–6 curricula aligned with NYS, Next Generation standards and district goalsEnsure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment and oversee curriculum mapping, instructional materials selection, and integration of instructional technologySupervise and support instructional coaches; establish a structured framework for coaching and professional learningOversee the supervision and evaluation of instructional personnelCollaborate with principals and staff to plan and implement district-wide professional development aligned with instructional prioritiesAnalyze teacher and administrator evaluation data to inform coaching, PLCs, and research-based instructional improvementsManage all district, State, and benchmark assessments; lead the preparation of the comprehensive assessment reports for Superintendent of Schools and Board of Education.Monitor student performance data to support placement in AIS, ENL, enrichment, and special programsOversee academic-related Title Grants and maximize use of BOCES and other partnerships for aid and resourcesCollaborate with Special Education, PPS, and Human Resources to support staffing, program design, and recruitmentDevelop and manage budgets for curriculum, instruction, professional development, and grantsLead planning for Superintendent’s Conference Days and other districtwide professional learning eventsSupport data-informed instruction and promote evidence-based best practicesCoordinate instructional materials and program evaluations with the Business OfficeAttend and present at Board of Education meetings; serve on committees as assignedOther duties assigned by Superintendent of SchoolsRequired Qualifications: Valid NYS SDA/SBL certification Terms of Employment: Twelve-month position; terms and conditions as per contract agreement
