The Elmont Union Free School District is seeking a dedicated and visionary District Director of English as a New Language (ENL) to lead and enhance the district’s ENL programs. The ideal candidate is a culturally responsive, experienced ENL educator and certified administrator who brings a deep understanding of best practices in English language acquisition and a commitment to ensuring equitable access to high-quality instruction for all multilingual learners.Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective ENL instructional programs across all schools.Supervise, observe, and evaluate ENL teachers and related personnel.Oversee NYS assessments (NYSITELL/NYSESLAT) and ensure appropriate accommodations for English Language Learners.Responsible for NYSESLAT Saturday Academy (4 sessions)Serve as a key resource on NYS regulations related to ENL services, including Part 154.Analyze student performance data to guide instructional decisions and support continuous program improvement.Assist in the development, submission, and oversight of the Title III Grants and Consolidated Application.Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required ENL data to NYSED.Collaborate with building administrators, instructional staff, and support personnel to ensure integrated services for multilingual learners.Lead professional development aligned with ENL strategies, culturally responsive pedagogy, and language acquisition frameworks.Attend and contribute to district leadership meetings, parent/community forums, and summer administrative retreats.Explore integrating Bilingual Education models throughout the district.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.Required Qualifications:Valid New York State Administrative Certification – School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA)Valid New York State Certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in ENL/ESOLDeep understanding of NYS ENL regulations, instructional models, and compliance reportingProven experience with staff supervision, program development, and data analysisStrong communication, collaboration, and organizational skillsDemonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and multilingual learner achievementPreferred Qualifications:Experience managing or supporting Title III and state/federal grantsFamiliarity with NYS assessments and accountability measures for ELLsBilingual or multilingual proficiency
