The Elmont Union Free School District seeks a visionary Elementary School Principal to lead a vibrant and diverse learning community. The ideal candidate is a dynamic instructional leader with a deep understanding of standards-based curriculum, exemplary educational practices, and a proven commitment to equity and excellence for all learners.Position Overview:The Elementary Principal (Pk-6) serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school, fostering a collaborative culture of learning that promotes high expectations, continuous improvement, and a strong sense of community. This leader will oversee curriculum design and implementation, staff supervision and evaluations, parent engagement, and school-wide initiatives that reflect best practices in education.Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:Leading and supporting the implementation of standards-based curriculum and research-based instructional strategiesUtilizing the Danielson Framework for Teaching to guide teacher observation, feedback, and professional growthPromoting an inclusive, equitable environment that addresses the needs of all learnersSupervising and developing instructional and support staff with a focus on capacity building and continuous improvementCommunicating clearly and effectively with all school stakeholders, including students, staff, families, district leaders, and community membersManaging school operations, including safety procedures, scheduling, staffing, and budgetingBuilding strong, collaborative partnerships with families and the wider community to support student successModeling professionalism, responsiveness, and a growth mindset in all aspects of school leadershipQualifications:Valid New York State Certification in School Administration and Supervision (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL) – RequiredDemonstrated experience as a successful classroom teacher and/or school leader – PreferredIn-depth knowledge of curriculum design, instructional leadership, and assessment practicesExperience using the Danielson Framework for Teaching or comparable evaluation modelsStrong communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsProven ability to inspire, support, and hold staff accountable in a collaborative school cultureCommitment to equity, inclusion, and the academic and social-emotional development of all students
