A highly motivated and culturally responsive World Language Teacher will provide engaging instruction toelementary students in grades 5 and 6. The ideal candidate is passionate about language acquisition and globalcitizenship and is committed to supporting diverse learners in a dynamic classroom environment.Position Overview:The World Language Teacher will deliver instruction aligned to the New York State World Languages LearningStandards and support students in developing communication skills in the target language. This educator will fostera classroom culture that values diversity, promotes linguistic proficiency, and encourages an appreciation of worldcultures.Duties include, but are not limited to:• Designing and implementing engaging lessons that develop students' skills in listening, speaking, reading,and writing in the target language• Incorporating culturally authentic materials and experiences to deepen students’ global awareness andcross-cultural understanding• Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners andstudents with IEPs• Using instructional technology and multimedia tools to enhance language acquisition• Assessing student progress regularly and maintaining accurate records aligned with district and NYSEDexpectations• Collaborating with grade-level teams and support staff to integrate language learning across the curriculum• Participating in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide cultural events and initiatives• Maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that encourages risk-taking in languageuseQualifications:• Valid New York State Certification in Foreign Language (7–12) with Middle Grades 5-6 languageextension – Required• Fluency in Language and knowledge of second language acquisition strategies• Strong instructional, interpersonal, and classroom management skills• Experience teaching students at the elementary school level• Commitment to creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments• Familiarity with ACTFL performance indicators and NYS World Language Standards
