JOB SUMMARY:The Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Curriculum & Instruction Support provides visionary leadership and strategic direction in curriculum development, instructional practices, professional development, and human resource management. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality education, fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment, and oversees staff recruitment, development, and retention. The Assistant Superintendent collaborates with district administrators, school leaders, teachers, and the community to promote academic excellence and operational efficiency. This position reports to the Superintendent of Schools.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Instructional Leadership:Assist with the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs and initiatives. Evaluate instructional staff following the District’s APPR Plan. Strategic Planning and Improvement:Assist in the development and implementation of strategic and school improvement plans to enhance curriculum, instruction, and human resource functions.Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in instructional practices, educational leadership, and personnel management.Assist in setting and monitoring measurable goals and objectives for instructional and personnel programs.Professional Development:Assists with planning and coordinating professional development programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of teachers and staff.Promote a culture of continuous improvement and lifelong learning among staff.Data Analysis and Accountability:Utilize data to assess the effectiveness of instructional programs and identify areas for improvement.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to education and personnel.Prepare and present reports on student achievement, instructional practices, and personnel metrics.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with administrators, department chairs, coordinators, committees, and community stakeholders to support instructional and personnel goals.Facilitate meetings to discuss instructional strategies, professional development needs, and personnel issues.Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and the community about educational initiatives and personnel policies.Personnel:Recruitment and recommendation of high-quality staff ensuring that the qualifications of candidates meet the requirements of a position.Ensures that contractual responsibilities in the area of personnel are fulfilled, including, but not limited to internal postings, and seniority lists.Assists with the management of evaluation processes. Conducts and/or assists with staff disciplinary investigations.Assists with negotiations and labor relations.Fulfill the responsibilities of a District Compliance Officer as needed.Collect and verify data, prepare reports, and maintain files and records as required and requested.Conducts ongoing review and audits of employee files to ensure compliance including but not limited to certifications, licensure, and other requirements of staff;Reviews, verifies, and analyzes the accuracy of information on personnel-related activities such as appointments, terminations, separations, use of eligible lists, and the recording and processing of employee information.Assists in the development of new staff orientation programs.Ensures all staff have completed mandated training.Maintains up-to-date reports of all professional development participation. Other ResponsibilitiesAttends Board of Education meetings, as requestedAttends school and district functions.Performs all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.Qualifications:New York State certification as a School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA). Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
