Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of PPS and School Principal, screen, assess and identify students with communication disorders which adversely affect their educational progress. Develop and provide direct and indirect services within the student's educational setting, based on established IEP goals and objectives. Minimum Qualifications:NYS Certification as Teacher of Students with Speech and Language DisabilitiesNYS License as a Speech and Language PathologistPrior experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist Primary ActivitiesProvide appropriate speech-language services in elementary, junior high, and senior high school working with a full range of communication disorders, including those involving language, articulation, fluency, voice.Collaborate with principals, teachers, and other school personnel of speech, language and/or hearing services and support language development in classrooms.Organize and conduct screening for communication disorders by utilizingscreening criteria, materials, procedures and record-keeping strategies.Participate in the multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility, Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, consultation services, and service delivery models.Effectively communicate evaluation results and proposed treatment plans.Maintain a system to record all identification and evaluative data and continuous student performance information.Prepare written evaluations and maintain records which clearly and succinctly document services provided, student progress and discharge from therapy Consult with parents, educators and other paraprofessionals regarding needs ofchildren/students with language development and disorders.Review therapy goals and objectives and make recommendations for changes as appropriate to the CSE Committee.Employs instructional/therapeutic methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting each student's goals and objectives.In collaboration with AAC evaluation agencies to support the needs of students utilizing augmentative and/or alternative communication systems and provide training in their use.Employ culturally responsive instructional/therapeutic methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting each student's goals and objectives.Operates and maintains a variety of therapeutic equipment and trains others in use of the equipment as necessary.Other duties as required.
