Edgemont Union Free School District is seeking a full-time, probationary track Band teacher for grades 7-12. Professional responsibilities include:junior high (grades 7-8) and senior high (grades 9-12) band rehearsals and individual/small group lessons during the daypossible general music class(es) and/or AP Music Theory classthe opportunity for evening rehearsals with additional performance groups (jazz band and wind ensemble)The successful candidate will have a strong pedagogical knowledge of woodwind, brass, and percussion instrument performance and instruction, with performance concentration in brass or percussion a plus. NYS Music K-12 Certification (or equivalent) required. Candidates will demonstrate passion for teaching and exceptional performance skills on primary and secondary instruments. Awareness of current educational best-practices for inclusion, strong interest in working collaboratively as part of the department and wider school community, an adaptable and coachable mindset, as well as organizational skills are essential. The successful candidate will join a team of passionate music educators who have each built impressive programs within their respective disciplines. The music department presents several performances each year, has a high level of participation in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, and a high ratio of students selected for county and statewide honor ensembles.
