SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER IN AN INTEGRATED SETTINGFULL TIME SALARIED POSITIONMake a difference in a child's life working on a dynamic, multidisciplinary team as a Special Education Lead Teacher for the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) Satellite Site at Christ the King Early Learning Center located at 20 Sumter Ave in Guilderland. The class is an integrated class with preschool children with disabilities (ages 3-5) and typical peer models. The classroom will be a co-teach model with a regular education UPK teacher.The position is “in person” for 35 hours per week.The Teacher is the primary coordinator of the interdisciplinary classroom team, including parent, teacher assistants, therapists (OT, PT, SLP) and social worker. Responsibilities:Expertise in child development, as well as knowledge of various disabilities and methodologiesAbility to assess through observation, evaluation tools and utilize curriculum to develop an individualized program to best meet the needs of each student Co-teach with regular education UPK teacherCo-plan schedule and implement an appropriate daily program and develop weekly lesson plans with the regular education teacherFacilitate and coordinate communication as leader of the Special Education teamModel play skills, positive interactions, social skills and appropriate communication to teach and reinforce skills.Modify curriculum, if neededOversee and employ appropriate classroom structure/set up, strategies and materialsProvide supervision to classroom special education assistant and aidesImplement Positive Behavior Intervention Supports within a classroomWrite education evaluation, IEP goals, progress monitoring and FBA/BIP’sAttend agency meetings and trainings at ECEC at 52 Corporate Circle and other locations when scheduledQualifications:Must have current NYSED Special Education Certification (Birth to grade 2, Students with Disabilities or equivalent) Masters degree preferredExcellent Full benefits offered: Paid time offHealth insurance, Dental insurance, Vision Insurance, Healthcare spending or reimbursement accounts such as Dependent Care Accounts, Health Savings Accounts or Flexible Spending AccountsShort-term and Long-term disabilityEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) Group-Term Life insuranceRetirement benefits Supplemental benefits available through MetlifeProfessional developmentPublic Service Loan Forgiveness, if eligibleTravel reimbursementStarting Base Salary: $ 58,000 for 12 months
