Reading Teacher, Probationary2025-2026Eastchester Middle SchoolEastchester Middle School is seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate to fill the probationary position of Reading Teacher for grades 6-8. Under the general supervision of the school principal, the Reading Teacher will facilitate student success and growth in reading by addressing the specific and targeted reading needs of individual students. This role involves creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. As part of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process, the teacher will provide targeted reading intervention support and collaborate closely with instructional teams, school counselors, and administration to ensure students receive necessary monitoring and support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in literacy instruction, experience administering and analyzing reading assessments to drive instructional decisions and service recommendations, and a demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. Preferred candidates will have training in the Wilson Reading System or other structured literacy methodologies. This role requires a passion for fostering a love of reading and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.Requirements:NYS certification: Reading/Literacy 7-12NYSED Fingerprint Clearance*Employment Terms:10 month, full-time position (1.0 FTE)Salary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule; $62,620 - $86,668, step placement contingent upon prior related experience. Internal transfers will maintain their step and salary placement.*Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law ยงยง305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES).
