Elementary Education Teacher (Technology Grades 2-5), ProbationaryGreenvale School2023-2024As an Elementary Technology Teacher, the successful candidate will play a critical role in designing and delivering technology education to our elementary school students. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing engaging and interactive lessons that promote digital fluency, computer science skills, and proficient use of various technology tools. Their expertise and passion for technology will empower our students to become creative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and responsible digital citizens. Responsibilities:Design and implement technology lessons and activities that align with Eastchester's curriculum and New York State standards while incorporating best practices in classroom management.Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and active participation in technology-related learning experiences.Utilize Tinkercad, Scratch, and Go Robotics to introduce coding concepts and encourage hands-on exploration and problem-solving skills.Teach students how to effectively use Google Workspace tools such as Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Classroom, promoting collaboration and effective digital communication skills.Introduce computer science principles to students in an age-appropriate and accessible manner, fostering their understanding of coding, algorithms, and computational thinking.Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support growth and individualized learning.Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology into existing lessons and support their professional development in utilizing digital tools effectively.Be a contributing member of a professional learning community, actively engaging in collaborative planning and instructional improvement.Stay updated on the latest educational technology trends, tools, and resources, and share this knowledge with colleagues to enhance the overall technology program.Promote digital citizenship and internet safety by educating students on responsible online behavior, privacy, and ethics.Requirements:Proven experience in classroom management, creating a safe and engaging learning environment.Proficiency in utilizing Tinkercad, Scratch, and Go Robotics platforms to facilitate coding and robotics lessons.Familiarity with Google Workspace tools, including Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Classroom, for instructional purposes.Sound understanding of computer science principles and the ability to effectively teach them to elementary students.Strong digital fluency and the ability to troubleshoot common technology-related issues.Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents.A passion for integrating technology into the curriculum and fostering student enthusiasm for learning.Ability to adapt lessons and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.Commitment to promoting digital citizenship and providing a safe online environment for students.Must be a contributing member of a professional learning community, actively engaging in collaborative planning and instructional improvement.NYS certification: Elementary/Childhood EducationNYSED Fingerprint Clearance*Employment Terms:10 month, probationary positionSalary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule.*Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law ยงยง305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES).
