Junior Accountant, ProbationaryImmediate Vacancy Eastchester School District The Eastchester School District is seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to fill the probationary civil service position of Junior Accountant, reporting to the Assistant Superintendent for Business and the Assistant Business Manager/Treasurer. In order to be considered for this vacancy, candidates must either hold permanent status in the civil service title of Junior Accountant or have successfully passed the required civil service examination for the title of Junior Accountant, and be reachable on the corresponding list of eligibles. A provisional appointment can only be considered in the absence of a valid list of eligibles.Duties of the position include: receiving, recording and preparing deposits for cash receipts; analyzing and reconciling school lunch fund; analyzing and preparation of Medicare reimbursements for retirees; calculation and preparation of invoices for health services; preparation of invoices for use of district facilities; review and approval of invoices for school district contractors; the setup and maintenance of MyPaymentsPlus accounts for various activities and supervise use with district staff; preparation and tracking of special education contracts; researching returned checks; managing free/reduced school lunch program; and other related tasks as required by district administration. Experience/Requirements: Two (2) years work experience where the primary function of the position was accounting, auditing or bookkeeping Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a closely related field, including a minimum of 15 credits in Accounting, may be substituted for the two years work experience. Superior technical skills: Knowledge of modern accounting principles and practices;working knowledge of office procedures and practices;ability to prepare, maintain and audit financial and statistical records;ability to use computer programs such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail, etc.;ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position andability to follow complex oral and written directions. Outstanding interpersonal skills: Ability to work well with others; honest and good judgment. Excellent organizational skills: The position requires someone who can handle multiple simultaneous tasks expediently and with accuracy. Attention to detail is eminent. Physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position. NYSED Fingerprint Clearance* Employment Terms: 12 month, full-time, probationary position Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday (35 hour workweek) Annual salary range in accordance with the negotiated CSEA salary schedule for the position of Junior Accountant: $58,614 - $89,210 Benefits covered by the CSEA contract *Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law §§305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES).
