VACANCY Physical Education Teacher PK-12 Position Type: Full-Time (10 months)Salary and Benefits: As per the Negotiated Agreement Between the Downsville Teachers’ Association and the Downsville Central School District Responsibilities: Curriculum Development: Design and implement developmentally appropriate PE curricula aligned with New York State Standards.Instruction: Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, team sports, individual activities, and lifetime wellness.Safety & Management: Maintain a safe, structured environment in the gymnasium, locker rooms, and outdoors.Assessment: Evaluate student performance in physical skills and fitness, maintaining accurate progress records.Inclusive Practices: Adapt activities to meet the needs of students with disabilities (Adapted PE).Collaboration: Work with staff to promote school-wide health and wellness (e.g., in-class movement breaks). Summary: A high-energy, certified educator responsible for developing physical literacy, health, and fitness across elementary, middle, and high school levels, promoting a safe and inclusive environment. Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field; Master’s preferred.Certifications: Valid NYS Certification in Physical Education (Initial or Professional), CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.Background: Fingerprint clearance through the New York State Education Department. Preferred Skills: Passion for promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.Strong classroom management abilities.Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff.Creativity in engaging students of all abilities.
