Anticipated Vacancy POSITION: Teacher of Career Exploration and Hospitality (.5/.5 FTE) LOCATION: Career & Technical Institute (CTI) DUTIES: Dutchess BOCES is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Career Exploration & Hospitality Teacher to join our Career & Technical Institute (CTI). This position serves secondary students, including those with diverse learning needs, by providing engaging, hands-on instruction in hospitality, career readiness, and workplace skills. The successful candidate will cultivate a supportive learning environment that promotes independence, employability, and real-world application, preparing students for success in post-secondary education, training programs, and the workforce. QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Certification in Special Education (preferred) or New York State Career & Technical Education (CTE) Certification in a related field Successful candidate must have 2 years of industry experience and be eligible for NYS teacher certification Background in hospitality, food service, or customer service industries Familiarity with work-based learning, transition planning, and career readiness frameworks Ability to build strong relationships with students and create a highly engaging, hands-on classroom environment Commitment to fostering student independence, dignity, and post-secondary success RESPONSIBILITIES: - Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in career exploration and hospitality related skills, including customer service, food service basics, workplace expectations, and employability skills - Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with disabilities and diverse learning profiles - Integrate real-world, hands-on learning experiences, including simulated and/or community-based work experiences - Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and ensure compliance with all Special Education regulations 2 - Utilize industry-relevant practices and tools to prepare students for entry-level employment in hospitality and service industries - Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment aligned with PBIS and restorative practices - Collaborate with colleagues, related service providers, and administrators to support student growth and program development - Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and skill attainment - Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and career readiness TENTATIVE START DATE: September 1, 2026 GRADE LEVEL: High School APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 12, 2026 EOE _________________________________________________________________________________________
