Anticipated: Teaching Assistant GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB: The Teaching Assistant supports instructional staff in delivering educational services to students in accordance with New York State Education Department regulations. Under the general supervision of a certified teacher, the Teaching Assistant assists with instruction, supervision, and classroom management to promote a safe and effective learning environment. This position functions in compliance with NYSED regulations governing Teaching Assistants and operates under the direction of a certified teacher at all times. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: • Full-time, 10-month, tenure track assignment. • Competitive salary; negotiable based on qualifications and experience. • Full complement of health benefits REPORTS TO : Principal SUPERVISES: N/A QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES : • The roles, responsibilities and expectation that are set forth are typical of a day in a classroom. • New York State Teaching Assistant certification required • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred • Ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities and needs • Experience in educational or child-centered settings preferred • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Professional judgment, patience, and flexibility • Commitment to inclusive educational practices • Bilingual skills preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In accordance with NYSED regulations, duties are performed under the supervision of a certified teacher and may include: • Assisting with instructional activities planned by the certified teacher • Reinforcing lessons and supporting small-group or individual instruction • Supporting classroom management and behavioral expectations • Supervising students in classrooms, hallways, and assigned areas • Assisting with preparation of instructional materials • Supporting implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) • Providing academic and behavioral support as directed • Assisting with student supervision during transitions and activities • Observing and reporting student progress to instructional staff • Maintaining accurate records as required • Supporting a safe and orderly learning environment • Maintaining confidentiality of student information • Collaborating with teachers, related service providers, and staff • Upholding professional conduct consistent with agency policies and code of conduct EVALUATION : Principal or designee
