Anticipated Vacancy:Adult Education - Part-time EveningsWelding InstructorDutchess BOCES' Adult Learning Academy is looking for a qualified Welding technician who would like to teach adult students who have an interest in starting a career in the Welding field. There are threeclasses in the Welding program including Safety and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW - Stick),Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW - MIG), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW - TIG). Each course ranges from approximately 100 to 120 hours, are schedule two to three times per week for 8 to 12 hours in the evenings. Courses last two to three months each. Teachers may move with an assigned cohortof students or be assigned to one of the courses in the Welding sequence. SALARY: $30- $40 per hour (depending on experience)LOCATION(S): Adult Learning InstituteDUTIES: The chosen candidate will teach foundational skills and prepare Welding students for entry level positions in the Welding field. The course includes both lecture and lab time with the expectation that students understand both theory and application of concepts and skills in the Welding field. Teachers will plan and implement instruction, design tasks, and monitor student learning and attendance in the course. Instructors will assess student’s progression through quizzes/tests, project observations and class participation. S/he will work with the Career Counselors to ensure adult students are prepared for career entry, not only in job skills, but with the soft skills that are needed to be successful in a position. These skills include communication, resume building, and team work, among others. QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have 5 to 8 years of experience in the Welding field (STICK, MIG, TIG) with an associate's degree, but the right candidate's experience level and any certifications will be taken into account in lieu of education.GRADE LEVEL: AdultSTARTING DATE: September 1, 2025
