ANTICIPATED VACANCY: Assistant Director of Educational Resources GENERAL STATEMENTOF JOB:Under limited supervision, perform a variety of supervisory and administrative tasks in directing the staff development activities in Dutchess County BOCES and its 13 component districts. Employee is responsible for assessing county wide staff development needs, setting specific goals, developing adult learning programs to meet specific needs, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented programs. The Assistant Director assists districts and schools with identifying existing internal and external development opportunities, and assists the Executive Director indeveloping strategic plans for the agency. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 12-month, tenure track, district-level administrative assignment.Competitive salary; negotiable based on qualifications and experience.Full complement of health benefits REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Educational Resources SUPERVISES: Instructional Specialists, Model Schools Staff, School Library Systems, Arts in Education and clerical staff, Academic Summer School QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: NYS Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA), School District Leader (SDL), or School Administration & Supervision (SAS).Master’s Degree in Education.5 to 7 years of experience teaching including program coordination.3 to 5 years of experience as an administrator strongly preferred.Prior experience planning and delivering Professional Development requiredStrong Knowledge of all elements of New York State's ESSA plan.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong technology skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAND ABILITIESConsiderable knowledge of internal and external resources for adult learning.Considerable knowledge of current literature, trends and developments in the field of adult learning.Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization and administration.Skills in supervising and coordinating large programs.Ability to assess system-wide staff development needs.Ability to develop, implement and evaluate adult learning programs.Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports from them.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts needs assessments to determine Professional Development needs for the agency, under the direction of the Executive Director.facilitates the creation of specific staff development goalsdelivers system-wide Professional Development programs for all staffassesses impact on teacher practice and student outcomesAssists with developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum and instruction in the agency; assists with the design of strategic plans for various programs.Provides research based guidance on the development of student centered instructional models, rigorous and relevant curriculum and instructional practices to promote student engagement, and strategies for collaborative and date driven decision-making.Coordinates initial implementation of various innovations within the system as designated by the Executive Director of Educational Resources.Participates in regularly scheduled agency and division meetings as required.Oversees the maintenance of the online Professional Development system.Facilitates the planning and tracking of Professional Development sessions, develops and communicates registration procedures, ensures facility availability and readiness, facilitates communication with session participants, and coordinates other elements involved with the planning and delivery of professional development activities.Reads professional journals and research papers; attends seminars, conferences and workshops to continuously update professional knowledge. EVALUATION: The Assistant Director of Educational Resources’ performance will be evaluated annually by the Executive Director of Educational Resources. EVALUATION: The Assistant Director’s performance will be evaluated annually by the Deputy Superintendent of schools.
