Duanesburg CSD is seeking a Special Education Teacher for our Elementary School. Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred. 1 year classroom experience or long term substitute experience desired. The position is a full year, tenure track position in a tightly knit, small, rural district.Successful candidates should be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and families to help students reach high levels of success and must be able to adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, such as ready, writing, math, and social studies.The candidate will be expected to: assess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans; adapt lessons to meet the needs of students; develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student; plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student's abilities; implement IEPs, assess students' performance, and track their progress; update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students' progress and goals; discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, and administrators; complete other duties that support student success; establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly classroom environment; engage students in the learning process and excite them about college and career possibilities; develop FBAs and BIPs.Interested, qualified candidates should submit a job specific cover letter, resume, transcript and other supporting documentation via OLAS.
