The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks a collaborative and student-centered Mathematics Teacher to join our faculty at the Dobbs Ferry Middle School, effective August 31, 2026. This is a full-time, probationary, tenure-track position. Salary commensurate with experience and on par with the Dobbs Ferry United Teachers current salary schedule. Description : As an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) school, we value inquiry-based instruction, critical thinking, and meaningful student discourse. The successful candidate will teach 8th grade Algebra using the Illustrative Mathematics model, which emphasizes conceptual understanding and collaborative problem-solving. In our classrooms, students talk and write about mathematics, listen to and build on one another's ideas, justify their reasoning, and critique the reasoning of others to deepen their mathematical understanding. Responsibilities include : Planning and delivering engaging Algebra I instruction aligned with the Illustrative Mathematics model and IB MYP framework; Facilitating discussion-rich classrooms that support mathematical reasoning and communication; Using formative assessment to guide instruction and support student learning; Collaborating with colleagues to analyze student work and improve instructional practice. Requirements : NYSED certification Mathematics Grades 7-12 or Grades 5-9. The successful candidate has strong content knowledge and commitment to student-centered instruction; experience with inquiry-based teaching, familiarity with Illustrative Mathematics and/or IB MYP is preferred.
