The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks candidates for the position of CSE/CPSE Chairperson. This position will assist and support the day-to-day management of CSE/CPSE functions district-wide. The anticipated start date is August 28, 2024. This is a full-time, tenure track position. Terms of employment are in accordance with the Dobbs Ferry United Teachers collective bargaining association. Salary commensurate with experience.Professional Role and Responsibilities: Uphold legal requirements and IDEA regulations and NYSED Part 200 & 201. Facilitate Committee on Preschool Special Education/ Committee on Special Education meetings. Conducts students’ observations regularly.Determine appropriate programming decisions for students in the least restrictive environment. Ensures that all required functions, practices, and procedures of the CPSE/CSE including referrals, recommendations to the Board of Education, placements, programming and funding are in alignment with the required timelines;Coordination of all Annual review and Reevaluation meetings.Engage special education and related service staff to ensure high quality programs and services are being provided pursuant to each student’s IEP. Implements Board of Education policies, and administers rules and regulations relating to special education.Assist families and providers through ongoing communication and support.Assist in the planning and implementation of staff development in-service training around all CPSE/ CSE responsibilities. Monitor and assist providers with IEP writing, development and implementation. Conducts staff meetings as necessary to support the proper implementation of IEPs. Collaborate with Special education administrators, Principals, and Assistant principals.Demonstrate strong communication skills and leadership qualities to work effectively with all stakeholders. Completes other tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Education and Assistant Director of Special Education.Qualifications: Minimum of five years of special education experience. Experience with chairing CSE meetings. Valid NYS Special Education certification required. Teacher of Speech, or Psychology certification preferred Strong knowledge of IDEA, NYS regulations, and expertise in supporting students with diverse needs.Applications may be submitted through OLAS by June 14, 2024.
