The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks an exceptional educator to join our Special Education team at the Dobbs Ferry Middle School (Grades 6-8). This position is responsible for teaching and maintaining a safe and healthy self-contained classroom for special education students. The successful candidate will have experience teaching students with autism and/or intellectual disabilities; working collaboratively with other teachers, related services providers, and teaching assistants; and experience organizing and implementing special classroom programming. This is a full-time, probationary, tenure-track position effective August 30, 2023. Terms of employment are in accordance with the Dobbs Ferry United Teachers Contract.We are seeking an educator with strong behavior management skills and instructional techniques; knowledge and experience with assistive technologies; experience with administering the NYS Alternate Assessment; skills in delivery of instructional guidance and supervision of Teaching Assistants and Aides; experience with vocational skills and post-secondary transitional planning.Demonstrated experience/knowledge in the following areas, including scheduling of daily classroom activities, analyzing data to track progress in achieving IEP goals; developing Functional Behavior Assessments and developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans for each student, as needed; and establishing a positive relationship with family members and guardians. NYSED certification required: Special Education K-12; or SWD 5-9 Generalist.The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE legislation effective July 1, 2001.Apply via OLAS by April 10, 2023.
