The Dobbs Ferry School District has immediate vacancy for a Teaching Assistant in the Special Education Department. This is a full-time (35-hour standard work week), probationary/tenure track position.Description/Essential Duties: In accordance with the New York State Department of Education, teaching assistants provide instructional services to students under general supervision of a certified teacher. This position requires working on a 1-to-1 basis with a student or small group of students with special needs, including providing hygiene needs for students with IEP or 504 plan. Duties may vary depending on students' specific needs. Lead or assist in various activities; aid in the development of educational materials.Requirements: High School Diploma/GED and Level I Teaching Assistant Certification within four (4) months of employment. Experience working with children, preferably in a classroom setting.Compensation: Terms of employment are in accordance with the Dobbs Ferry UFSD Clerical, Teacher Aide/Teaching Assistant Unit. Starting salary range $24,792 through $31,975 commensurate with experience, plus an additional $3,843 hygiene stipend (prorated based on start date).
