Grade 5-12 Behavior Support TA Description of Job Responsibilities The Behavior Support Teaching Assistant should be a collaborative, flexible practitioner knowledgeable in behavior support techniques, including trauma-informed practices, TCIS, and restorative practices. The Behavior Support Teaching Assistant must be comfortable with supporting students experiencing behavioral disruptions and difficulties in various classrooms and school environments and at various grade levels, but most support is anticipated for middle school students. Responsibilities may include the following: - Supervise and support students assigned to ISS- Assist classroom teams with the implementation of both formal behavior intervention plans and informal behavior support plans, including data collection- Supervise breaks and alternative workspaces as needed for students- Support students through crisis situations by applying TCIS techniques- Provide additional supervision to students and/or classes as needed to implement proactive and preventive behavior strategies- Must be willing to attend after-school trainings, meetings, and collaboration sessions SALARYStipend to be paid as compensation for additional duties and attendance at required after-school trainings and meetings, per CSEA Contract. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSLevel III TA Certification required(in the process of certification or will a willingness to pursue this level ofcertification within an agreed upon period of time) This is not a disciplinary position. All discipline will be assigned by the 5-12 Principal or other building administrator. The intention is for support to be provided by this position proactively so that disciplinary measures that take the student out of the classroom for long periods of time are not necessary.
