TITLE: Reading Specialist LOCATION: Alan D. Pole Campus, Norwich, NY; Robert W. Harrold Campus, Sidney Center, NY REPORTS: Building Principals TERMS: Full-time; 10 months QUALIFICATIONS: Certified in Elementary Pre-K-6 or Education (Grades 1-6) or able to receive such New York State teacher certification prior to starting position. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Responsible for identifying and working with students with weaknesses in literacy, helping students improve skills like decoding, comprehension, and fluency. Assess students’ reading levels and design targeted intervention plans based on individual needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support effective reading instruction and monitor student progress. Provide small group or individual instruction using evidence-based strategies. Communicate with parents and staff to share progress and recommend ways to support reading development at home and in school.
