TITLE: Assistant School Lunch Manager LOCATION: BOCES wide REPORTS: School Lunch Manager TERMS: Full-time, 12 months QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must meet Civil Service qualifications; Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma recognized by the NYS Department of Education; AND Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college with an Associate’s Degree in Hotel or Restaurant Management, Food Service Administration, Dietetics, Nutrition or related field and two years of full-time experience or its part time equivalent in large scale food preparation which includes one year of supervisory experience; OR Four years of full-time experience or its part time equivalent in large scale food preparation which includes one year of supervisory experience, OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in A and B above. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Selected candidate will be assigned to directly oversee one or more school cafeterias in addition to assisting with administrative of the School Lunch Management program. This will include leading food service workers in meal preparation, supervising meal service, post-service cleaning of kitchen and serving line, etc. Additionally, the Assistant School Lunch Manager will assist the School Lunch Manager in the administration of school lunch programs for several participating districts, including but not limited to creating and managing budgets, record keeping, state and federal reporting, training, ordering, processing purchase orders and invoices, and developing menus and nutritional information.
