TITLE:Licensed Teaching Assistant - Alternative Education LOCATION:Pole Campus/Harrold Campus REPORTS TO:Building Principal TERMS:10 Months, Full-time QUALIFICATIONS:New York State Teaching Assistant Certification required.Experience working with at-risk youth or students with academic and behavioral challenges preferred.Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students and staff.Commitment to helping students develop academic, social, and life skills for success beyond school.RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: The Teaching Assistant in Alternative Education supports certified teachers in providing instructional and behavioral support to students in grades 9-12 enrolled in alternative education programs. This position focuses on assisting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs to achieve academic and personal success in a structured, supportive environment. Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities. Assist the classroom in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.Support individual and small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts.Provide behavioral support and maintain a safe, positive classroom climate.Supervise students during classroom, transition and non-instructional time.Assist in monitoring student progress, recording data and communicating observations to the teacher.Support students in developing appropriate social and emotional skills.Implement behavior intervention strategies as directed by the teacher or administrator. SALARY/BENEFITS:Starting salary $31,863 - $42,859. Competitive pay and benefits based on BOCES Teachers’ Association (BTA) contract.
