The Central Valley Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Music Teacher (K-12) / Musical Production Director with initial placement at the secondary level. Certification: Music (K-12) Required. Base Salary: $42,000.00 - Commensurate with Additional Education & Experience. Effective Fall 2026. Description below: Location: Central Valley Central School District, Ilion, NY Position Type: Full-Time, Probationary (Tenure-Track) Start Date: September 1, 2026 Certification Required: NYS Music (K–12) Position Description The district is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Music Director to lead a comprehensive high school music program. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction, direct major ensembles and foster a vibrant, inclusive music culture that supports student growth and community engagement. Responsibilities • Teach music courses aligned to NYS Learning Standards for the Arts to include Music Theory, Music Appreciation, Theatre classes and lessons • Direct and rehearse Concert Choir and Treble Choir • Plan and conduct concerts, festivals, the annual musical, and community performances • Develop curriculum, assessments, and instructional materials • Manage budgeting, inventory, and equipment maintenance • Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues • Collaborate with building and district leadership • Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, and extracurricular activities • Promote a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment Required Qualifications • Valid NYS Certification in Music (K–12) • Proficiency in instrumental and/or vocal instruction • Experience directing secondary-level ensembles • Strong organizational, communication, and classroom-management skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with musical theatre, or competitive ensembles • Ability to teach multiple instruments or voice types • Familiarity with music technology (notation software, recording tools, digital audio platforms) • Experience collaborating with parent booster organizations Work Year & Compensation • Ten-month position per the district’s collective bargaining agreement • Extracurricular stipends for the annual school musical and choral opportunities as outlined in the contract
