Cato-Meridian CSD is a small but vibrant community (“Small Community, Big Impact!”), serving approximately 500 elementary students. We anticipate the need to seek a dedicated, energetic, and collaborative Elementary Special Education Teacher to provide comprehensive instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Applicants should be NYS certified or eligible by start date of 9/1/25. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and Implement IEPs based on individual student needs in compliance with federal/state law.Adapt Curriculum and Instruction, ensuring accessibility via accommodations and modifications.Provide Direct Instruction in core subjects through small-group or one-on-one sessions.Collaborate with General Education Teachers to support inclusion.Monitor Student Progress, analyzing data to adjust instruction and document growth.Communicate with Parents/Guardians regarding progress, IEP meetings, and home support.Manage Student Behavior using positive behavior intervention strategies (PBIS).Collaborate with Support Staff, including SLPs, OTs, psychologists, and counselors.Maintain Accurate Records and Documentation of IEPs, assessments, communication, and compliance.Engage in Professional Development to stay current with best practices, laws (IDEA), and assistive technology.QualificationsNYS certification in Special Education (Pre-K – Grade 6) or eligibility by 8/29/2024Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)Completion of NYS-approved teacher preparation and student teachingStrong understanding of IEP development, disability classifications, and instructional differentiationExcellent communication, collaboration, and behavior-management skills
