ResponsibilitiesProvide academic instruction and behavioral support to elementary school aged students with disabilities under the direction of the special education teacher. Help prepare and organize instructional materials (worksheets, manipulatives, visual aids), classroom resources, and learning activities. Support classroom order and safety: help maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming learning environment; manage transitions; minimize distractions; ensure students’ physical and emotional well-being. Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation — maintain notes, data sheets, or anecdotal records as directed by the teacher. Provide support for students’ social, behavioral, and emotional needs: encourage positive behavior, model social skills, support students during transitions, and help with behavior management or behavior support plans if applicable.
