Registered Nurse for SchoolImmediate OpeningCenter for Spectrum Services is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Kingston schoolWe are looking for an experienced nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have pediatric experience or experience with children on the autism spectrum disorder. The primary responsibility in this position will be to provide health services to students when they attend our day school. We are a nationally recognized day school for children with autism spectrum disorders. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a supportive team that provides educational and related services to preschool and school age children.Job Summary:The School Nurse will treat students for medical issues, help prevent physical issues and disease, and coordinate routine health assessments. Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise and communicate with Ellenville Licensed Practical Nurse regularlyDuties/Responsibilities: Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students and ongoing consultations with their families regarding student’s health status.Maintain ongoing consultations with physician's offices regarding students' health status. Coordinate the administration and handling of medication, including communication with child’s caregiver to ensure prescribed medication form is signed by both prescriber and caregiver and that medication as ordered by the prescribing physician is available.Consult with educational and related service staff regarding special needs of all students.Maintain current health records of all students.Evaluate Revise student medical concerns as appropriate and share information with relevant CSS team members.Abide by New York State Education Regulations regarding nursing services. Provide training to staff regarding OSHA regulations and other medical procedures Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations.Adhere to policies in the Staff Handbook and Human Resources Manual and other handbooks pertinent to the functioning of your job.Attend required meetings.Coordinate Safety Data SheetsUtilize appropriate behavior management techniques and follow students’ behavior plans.Demonstrates familiarity with and adheres to State and federal regulations and policies (i.e. SED, Medicaid, Office of Children and Families).Complete designated follow-ups. Responsible for disease prevention. Assists in promoting programs on health-education and immunization. Coordinates vision, hearing, and orthopedic screening and health assessments. Provides emergency aid to students and school staff. Assists teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education. Additional Duties to Include:Oversee the ordering and maintaining of medical supplies.Provide health education to students. Meet with support staff as needed.Complete any additional required paperwork.Contribute to the productive functioning of the schoolRequired Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of community agencies to help students and their families.Knowledge of district policies and procedures.Education and Experience:Registered nurse (RN) certification required.Current nursing license required.Current Child and Adult CPR and AED CertificationDriver's license required for student transport highly desirable.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.Schedule:Monday to Friday 8am-3pm Job Type: Full-Time Salary: $65,000-$80,000 This can be a 12 month or 10 month 7 week positionExcellent Benefit package includes: medical & dental insurance, generous personal time, paid school holidays and vacation days, pension plan, inclement weather days and training
