The Cold Spring Harbor Central School District seeks an innovative, intellectually curious, and student-centered educator to join our high school faculty as a Social Studies teacher. Qualifications : NYS Social Studies 7-12 certification Experience teaching advanced coursework, AP courses, or research-based classes preferred AP Psychology/Psychology background preferred Key Responsibilities : Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction grounded in the NYS Social Studies Framework and inquiry practices Facilitate learning experiences that emphasize questioning, investigation, analysis, and evidence-based reasoning Integrate reading, writing, and discussion as central components of social studies instruction Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including in ICT and inclusive classroom settings Foster a welcoming, respectful, and student-centered classroom environment that supports emotional well-being and belonging Incorporate diverse perspectives and culturally relevant content to deepen student understanding Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development, vertical alignment, and shared instructional goals Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues Experience using research-based instructional strategies and data to inform teaching Ability to support students in critical thinking, discussion, and analytical writing Commitment to fostering inclusive classrooms and culturally responsive teaching practices Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth Cover letter may be addressed to Brian Taylor, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources No telephone calls, please
