2025-2026 VacancyThe Cold Spring Harbor Central School District is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and student-centered leader to serve as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. This role is responsible for the leadership, organization, administration, and coordination of all K-12 instructional, curricular, and assessment initiatives. Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools, this individual plays a critical role in advancing the district’s strategic vision, enhancing instructional quality, and ensuring excellence in teaching and learning.QualificationsValid New York State Administrative Certification (SDL or SDA)Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience, with Central Office administrative experience preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and research in the field of curriculum and instruction.Demonstrated experience in K-12 instructional leadership and curriculum development.Strong knowledge of NYS learning standards, APPR, data analysis, grant management, and state/federal education requirements.Proven ability to inspire, lead, and build collaborative teams among educators and administrators.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Demonstrated commitment to innovation, and student-centered learningAbility to effectively manage time and fiscal resources.Experience in grant writing and management.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position directly supervises:Executive Director of TechnologyDirector of Health and AthleticsDirector of HumanitiesDirector of STEMShared supervision includes:AIS CoordinatorDepartment ChairpersonsInstructional coordinators and leadersPrimary ResponsibilitiesInstructional Leadership & Curriculum OversightProvide oversight for all curriculum, instruction, and assessment initiatives across the district.Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment.Oversee all curricular areas. Assume responsibility for appraisal and improvement of methods, procedures and outcomes of the K-12 instructional program.Lead the development and execution of curriculum writing projects and summer initiatives in collaboration with directors, department chairs and building principalsCollaborate with the PPS office to support inclusive programming that meets the needs of all learners.Professional Development & Staff SupportManage, enhance and implement the district’s professional development plan for all instructional staff in collaboration with principals, directors, chairpeople, central office administrators, Board of Education, parents and community members.Coordinate professional learning opportunities in collaboration with principals, directors, building administration and department chairpersons.Plan and lead robust professional development on Superintendent’s Conference Days, including opening day sessions, building and faculty meetings.Co-plan and co-facilitate the annual leadership retreat for the administrative team.Provide instructional resources and guidance to building administration to enhance teaching and learning.Lead the district’s teacher mentoring program and collaborate on new teacher orientation and onboarding.Serve on hiring committees.Evaluation, Data & AccountabilityAnalyze assessment data and instructional trends to inform decisions and improve student outcomes.Review all testing data with district directors, chairpeople, and building principals and present the New York State Report Card annually.Maintain deep knowledge of student performance data and lead workshops for families on assessment and achievement.Provide ongoing curriculum and instruction reports to the Superintendent and Board of Education.Conduct observations of untenured staff.Assist building principals with scheduling and staffing.Program Management & Strategic PlanningCoordinate the budgeting and procurement for instructional programming, materials, BOCES services, and local and national conferences.Oversee Title IA, IIA, III, and IV programs, including grant writing and reporting.Plan and oversee the district’s Universal Pre-K (UPK) program.Liaison for state and federal reporting requirements for instructional program and teacher evaluation ratings.Coordinate budget for all related instructional programming and applicable grant money.Serve as liaison to the Cultural Arts Committee and support the Superintendent as liaison to the Cold Spring Harbor Education Foundation.Attend and contribute to Assistant Superintendents' Council meetings at BOCES and all Board of Education meetings.Collaborate with union leadership, Assistant Superintendent of HR and the Superintendent to ensure alignment with the teacher contract and facilitate effective communication.Community & Stakeholder EngagementFoster strong relationships with staff, families, community members, and Board of Education members to communicate the vision and goals of instructional programming.Work with leadership and the Board to develop annual district goals aligned with the district’s vision.Lead monthly curriculum and instruction meetings with building and district leaders to align instructional practices and monitor progress.Curriculum guides, scope and sequence documents.Member and co-facilitator of districtwide SIT committeeManage student observer/teacher requests and coordinate placements.Collaborate with Special Education Department in managing homeschool requests.Oversee academic Intervention Services districtwide and summer reading program working closely with AIS Coordinator, Special Education directors, and STEM/Humanities Directors.Cover letter may be addressed to Dr. Candice Brodie, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources*No telephone calls, please
