Assistant Superintendent for Human ResourcesRequirements:Successful candidates must possess NYS Administrative Certification (SDL or SBL)Job Description:Assists the Superintendent of Schools in the supervision of all instructional employees. Ensures that the proper practices and procedures established by the human resources department are implemented and employed by all responsible parties in the district.Responsibilities:Oversees the recruitment, selection, supervision, assignment and recall of certified personnel and makes recommendations to the Superintendent.Assists in the preparation of the personnel budget for all schools, inclusive of staffing recommendations to the Superintendent.Supervises the Office of Human Resources and provides oversight to record keeping and completion of reports related to all personnel functions within the District.Prepares the personnel section for each Board of Education agenda.Coordinates the process by which probationary staff are recommended and approved for tenure.Assures compliance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the continued certification of staff, FMLA and EEOC.Reviews and approves all time-sheeted activities of instructional personnel.Reviews/approves in-service and graduate-level coursework for salary credit.Organizes required annual trainings for personnel (i.e. DASA, Right to Know, GCN, Sexual Harassment, etc.)Coordinates the recruitment and selection of substitute teachers.Liaison for state and federal reporting requirements for instructional program and teacher evaluation ratings.Ensures training for all district and building level administrators to be certified lead evaluators with the Charlotte Danielson Framework in compliance with the Cold Spring Harbor School District’s APPR plan and expectations from NYSED. Oversees APPR Program.Reviews teacher observation data to identify priority areas for professional development needs and goal setting.Collaborates with Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to coordinate and design new teacher orientation and training.Supervises, guides and supports the teacher mentoring program.Collaborates on district Professional Development plan by working to identify needs and creating targeted PD opportunities.Reviews and refines hiring processes as needed including creating forms to be utilized in permanent folders.Develops and/or refines current job descriptions of district employees.Works with administration to honor and celebrate efforts of district staff through planned activities in an effort to continuously maintain positive morale and a healthy work climate.Attends Cabinet meetings, Leadership meetings, Curriculum & Instruction meetings and Board of Education meetings.Participates and registers for membership in HR related organizations.Develops and/or refines offboarding of staff, works with department heads to ensure collection of all district resources prior to departure from Cold Spring Harbor.Responsible for such additional duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.Cover letter may be addressed to Mona Hecht, Assistant Superintendent for Counseling, Student Services & Human Resources.
