Qualifications:Successful candidates must possess:Valid NYS Administrative Certification (SBL, SDL or SDA)Five years' teaching experience and proven record of leadershipExtensive knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, literacy instruction, and student assessmentDemonstrated ability to effectively analyze standardized and local assessment data and use it to drive instructional practice, decision-making and goal settingStrong interpersonal and communication skillsResponsibilities:Guide development, implementation and evaluation of K-12 ELA and Social Studies instructional programsCoordinate and edit elementary and secondary ELA/SS curricula guidesReview, evaluate and recommend for adoption, when needed, all ELA/SS materials and resourcesCoordinate professional development on literacy instruction to ensure best practices are implementedObserve teachers in the classroom setting and provide feedback, support and professional learning opportunitiesFacilitate ELA/SS department meetings to share timely information and updates and to ensure effective communication within and among departmentsAddress/supervise summer curriculum writing needsWork collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to address building and district needsCover letter may be addressed to Mona Hecht, Assistant Superintendent for Counseling, Student Services & Human ResourcesPrevious applicants are still under consideration and need not reapplyNo telephone calls, please
