Salary: $50,020 - $60,970 Commensurate with ExperienceTitle:Guidance CounselorReports to:PrincipalApproved By:Carthage Central School District Board of Education SUMMARY:The Guidance Counselor will counsel with students individually and in groups on matters related to educational, personal and career development. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned.1.Provides individual and group counseling to students.2.Provides academic counseling.3.Provides career and vocational planning.4.Provides crisis counseling when appropriate.5.Makes referrals to outside agencies.6.Conferences with teachers, administrators, psychologists and other professional staff and caregivers to discuss student progress.7.Consults with caregivers regarding concerns about students.8.Provides information to students and caregivers regarding school orientation, courses of study, further education, occupational information and related topics.9.Participates in CSE, AIS, RTI, etc. as required.10.Provides supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom in accordance with building and district expectations. 11.Reports to school on time.12.Maintains confidentiality.13.Adheres to and enforces CCSD Code of Conduct.14.Participates, when appropriate, in continuous professional growth and development related to the field of counseling and/or specific area(s) as assigned.15.Attends required meetings and follows building rules, procedures and district policies.16.Maintains positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with students, staff, caregivers, colleagues, district personnel and community.17.Uses excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, staff, caregivers and community. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises students during counseling sessions. OTHER:Performs related duties as required or assigned.
