Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School, of the Croton Harmon Union Free School District, is seeking a leave replacement Visual Arts teacher (for the 2026-27 school year) with a passion to teach and a strong ability to build rapport with students in an environment where learning through 21st Century skills are valued and a dominant part of the school culture. A successful candidate will be able to: Exhibit strong ability to develop connections with middle school students and to cultivate an atmosphere of mutual respect Willingness to contribute to a learning environment that values and addresses the social-emotional needs of students Design, implement, assess and manage high-quality Fine Arts instruction to meet the needs of all students Seeks to develop curricula integrating arts, STEAM-D, and humanities through experiential learning and community connections. Collaborate with teachers, school and district administrators to develop curriculum and intentional infusion of technology to maximize student engagement and to differentiate instruction Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a productive, growth-oriented learning environment Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, administrators and the community Keep parents up-to-date of student progress through use of standards-based report cards, electronic gradebook, emails and/or other means of communication Qualifications: Masters Degree preferred NYS Certification in Visual Arts (Pre K-12)
